More and more businesses are placing a premium on minimizing keys and managing access. You don’t want a huge failure to occur before your company gets going on improving your security. It is practically common knowledge these days, that doors using a traditional keyed-in-lock, just do not get locked. Employees (management too!) leave these doors propped open during the day because of always having to remember to take their keys with them, even if they will be right back. It is this small window of time, when bad things can happen.
Restaurants may lose valuable food or beverage items – known as internal shrinkage, inventory can go missing from the warehouse, and private company information or customer information can get swiped from a manager’s office. And this is the tangible ‘stuff.’ There is a much greater threat to personnel.
We’ve all seen on TV what happens when a former employee loses their cool and re-enters the office using a copy of a key, or through an unlocked door. Small offices and retail shops may have as many as a dozen doors still using keys. Larger complexes will have many more, sometimes hundreds. This creates a dynamite keg waiting to go off. Disaster can be averted using cutting edge technology, specifically, keyless locks.
Compared to full-blown wired security systems, keyless locks are more cost effective and less complicated. They are not lightweights though. Many of the mainstream commercial access control features companies want can be found in keyless locks. This includes tracking of employees through the door, scheduling of times when employees and others are permitted access, and PC management of users, doors, and sites.
Depending on your company’s size, and budget, you can start with a heavy-duty single access code keyless lock, like the Simplex 5000 for standard commercial doors, or the Lockey 7070N for aluminum frame glass entries. Organizations wanting more capacity, whereby each individual can have their own unique credential, will want to look at electronic commercial keyless locks.
These keyless locks for businesses come in many styles, but don’t let the large selection overwhelm you. There are many common characteristics found in all electronic locks. The key is to review your project with one of our security professionals. They can provide you a risk assessment, review your door condition, and offer you a quote.
You can’t paper over your company’s security problems, the risks are simply too great. Keyless locks go a long way in solving the problems, and provide you unmatched power and control over your security environment.
